Two Unidentified Bodies Recovered Near National Eidgah and Supreme Court

Thebangladaily.com – Two unidentified bodies recovered from separate locations in central Dhaka were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsies on Saturday. Police recovered the bodies of two men from areas near the National Eidgah and the Supreme Court after receiving information from local people.

Shahbagh Police Station handled the recovery and completed the required legal procedures before sending both bodies for post-mortem examinations. The men could not be identified immediately, and police are continuing efforts to establish their identities.

Men Found at Two Central Dhaka Locations

One man, believed to be about 65 years old, was found lying on a footpath near the northern side of the National Eidgah’s main entrance at around 12pm. About 30 minutes later, another man, estimated to be around 45, was found opposite the Education Building beside the Supreme Court area.

The locations are busy parts of central Dhaka, with regular pedestrian movement and nearby public institutions. Although the bodies were recovered within a short period, police are examining the circumstances surrounding each death through the usual legal and medical process.

The two unidentified bodies recovered were taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue, where autopsy examinations are expected to help determine further details about the deaths.

Police Seek Identification Through CID Assistance

Sub-Inspector Toufiq Hasan of Shahbagh Police Station said police sent the bodies for autopsy after completing legal formalities. At the time of recovery, authorities had not been able to confirm the men’s names, addresses or family details.

“After completing the legal procedures, the bodies were sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy,” he said.

People in the respective areas told police that the two men appeared to have been homeless and had been staying near the places where they were found. Such information may assist investigators as they try to identify people who knew the deceased or may have seen them recently.

Police have informed the Criminal Investigation Department, or CID, and expect to use technology in the identification process. Establishing the identities of the men could help authorities contact relatives and collect further information relevant to the investigation.

“Efforts are underway to identify them. We have informed the Criminal Investigation Department. Their identities are expected to be established with the help of technology,” the sub-inspector added.

Autopsies Form Part of Ongoing Investigation

Autopsy examinations are a key part of the investigation after the recovery of unidentified bodies. The medical findings may help police understand the circumstances of the deaths while officers continue gathering information from people familiar with the two locations.

For now, the men remain unidentified. One was found near the National Eidgah entrance, while the other was recovered beside the Supreme Court near the Education Building. Police have not disclosed further details about the cause of death.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work with the CID and local sources to identify the deceased men.
